FAQ'S

Q

What preparation is needed prior to applying the new surface?

When we prepare your concrete for installation, we will be using a combination of sanders, pressure washers, muriatic acid, and grinders, depending on the requirements for creating an ideal profile. Chemicals will be used for removing adhesives, oil, or paint. Don’t worry. We come prepared for just about anything since we know that each and every surface presents its own individual challenges and idiosyncrasies.

Q

How often will resealing be necessary?

Ideally, it should be re-sealed every two to four years, depending on the amount of traffic it had seen, exposure to sunlight, and how often it has been cleaned. The optimum time for resealing is when it starts looking dull, is hard to clean, or if water starts immediately penetrating the surface. After application of a fresh sealant coat, your floor’s colors will be fully intensified and easy to clean again.

Q

Can you repair cracks?

There are a number of methods and price points involved in concrete crack repairs. The method we use is determined by several factors, including your budget and size of the cracks, as well as the type of material that will go over the crack i.e. coating or tile, etc. Also, no matter what method is used for filling a crack, it could reappear. That’s why, we may recommend a specific pattern, like flagstone, for working repaired cracks into our design, disguising the crack and making it easier to repair in the future if necessary.

Q

How will the surface stand up to discolorations, tire marks, & stains?

Every one of our applications is finished off with a seal coat, which will make the surface non-porous. This will prevent discoloration and excessive fading caused by UV rays. The majority of stains, such as those caused by animal urine, the calcium in water, oil, or tire treads, will easily wash off.

Q

How long do people & pets have to stay off the surface following application?

Once the sealant is applied, you have to wait 24 hours. In addition, waiting three days is recommended prior to putting heavy boxes or even light furniture on it. And, avoiding putting appliances, heavy furniture, or vehicles on your new surface for four to five days is also recommended.

Q

What is the difference between Polyaspartic & Polyurethane top coating?

Polyaspartic floor coatings offer better abrasion, chemical and UV resistance than Polyurethane.  Polyaspartic also cures quickly, allowing you to return to service quicker than polyurethane.  They are both great products and create a beautiful long lasting floor coating.
